Day 1: Welcome to the Coffee Axis

We arrive in Pereira or Armenia, the gateway cities into Colombia's UNESCO-listed Coffee Cultural Landscape. After a private transfer to our accommodation, the evening is ours to settle in and rest among the rolling green hills of the central Andes. Overnight in the Coffee Region.

Day 2: Cocora Valley, Salento, and Filandia

We start the morning with a hike beneath the wax palms of the Cocora Valley, the tallest palm trees in the world, rising out of a misty Andean cloud forest. We continue to Salento, a colorful colonial town known for its bright facades, cobblestone streets, and traditional Andean architecture. After a local lunch, we head to Filandia, another well-preserved heritage town, where we visit the From the Vine to the Basket interpretation center and learn the traditional craft of weaving baskets from local plant fibers. Overnight in the Coffee Region.

Day 3: Coffee Experience, From Plant to Cup

We spend the day on a traditional coffee farm tucked into the central Andes. Here we follow the full coffee process firsthand, from planting and hand-picking the ripe cherries to pulping, and then watch the beans roasted on a wood stove in a rural farmhouse kitchen. The day ends with a fresh cup of coffee, tasted right where it was grown. Overnight in the Coffee Region.

Day 4: Farewell to the Coffee Axis

After breakfast at our hotel, we transfer to the airport in time for our departure flight. We hope these few days have given us a real feel for one of Colombia's most distinctive cultural and farming landscapes. End of trip.

F.A.Q

What should I pack?

Layers for variable mountain weather (warm days, cool evenings), sturdy walking shoes or light hiking boots for the Cocora hike, a light rain jacket or poncho, sun protection, insect repellent, a daypack, and a reusable water bottle. The Cocora Valley hike can be muddy after rain, so consider waterproof footwear.

Will I need to speak Spanish?

No. Your guide will handle all communication. Learning a few basic Spanish phrases is appreciated locally but not required.

Can I bring coffee home?

Yes, and you'll want to. Most travelers buy whole beans directly from the farm we visit on Day 3. Check your home country's customs rules: most countries allow personal coffee imports without issue. Roasted beans travel better than ground coffee.

How do I contact you with questions?
